Advent 14

Father of blessings,

No sooner had you given favor to mankind than it became to us the object of covetousness, greed, deception, and murder. The fool says in his heart that you are not there to bless and save, discounting you. Yet, even our sin cannot but accomplish your will, despite itself. Jacob’s deceptions were not counted against him; let him rejoice for he is counted among the generation of the righteous.

Let us too rejoice in our full participation in your blessing, Father. We who are destined to be gathered as living sheaves of grain, and not grapes of wrath, let us be clothed in the pure white of Christ, unstained and blameless—seeking you. Oh that salvation for Israel would come from Zion. Hallelujah and Maranatha.
