Advent 18

Blessed be the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Blessed be you, Lord, who met with a Jacob and left an Israel with sure promises of blessing and mercy at the place he called your house. All the earth is your rightful dwelling and you bring back your kingdom and rule by the workings of your Spirit and the gospel of your Son as it pleases you.

The stone which will weigh the kingdoms of this world down to the depths is the one in which we have eternal refuge and defense—from their wrath and yours. On him, the Son of David, is carved a new name for us which no one can know or take from us. Let his righteousness be the work of our hands. Let us be found in him.

Come, Lord Jesus. Visit us in your power, love, justice, and mercy. Work salvation on the earth.
