Advent 24

Lord and King,

You bless us in truth. You bring to realization all that you have commanded and promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: children, prosperity, nations, inheritance, life, and your very self. Though we were once slaves to sin and the things of this world, you remind us that our captors were once themselves dispossessed servants, and they shall be again. When Jacob chose his burying place in the land of promise, did he know even then that death itself would not keep your hand of promise from him?

Even more, all you promise is yes and amen in Jesus Christ, for he is the only worthy recipient. He alone does good and is from you; he alone does not swear falsely; the only clean hands are the ones pierced on the cross; the only pure heart is the one that stopped beating to give us a new one. Yet, his greatest joy is to see that we, his children, are walking in his truth. Establish us in your blessing and rule, Lord. Who is the King of glory but you? The Lord, strong and mighty, mighty in battle, The Lord Jesus Christ. Come Lord Jesus, and let earth receive her King.
