Lord and Christ,
We praise you whose flesh and blood sustains us. Moses came entrusted with the terrible wrath of God’s fury. You came entrusted with words of life. To whom else shall we go? How fitting that the Lamb of God and Bread of Heaven should provide his table at the Passover.
Yet faith is the difference: in whom do we trust? Are we like Pharaoh, clutching on to the stubble of false hopes and idols? Are we like the magicians, who believe but are too far gone to bring ourselves to follow you back to safety? Are we like your people in the wilderness, along for the ride of protection and provision, but not entrusting ourselves to you? Let us turn and feast upon you: finding your words to be the very bread of heaven. With you there is eternal salvation. Hallelujah! You have turned our mourning into dancing. You have restored us to life by the life of your only Son. You have brought us back from the pit of sin and death to ever sing your praise.
