Epiphany 3

Father and Redeemer,

You made ways to yourself. We sinned, and you made ways. We sinned further, and you made further ways. With sacrificial blood throw against alter horns, with immaculate embroidery envisioning heaven, with copies and shadows of your heavenly dwelling, you made ways for atonement, restoration, and reunion with you.

Yet there is no truer glimpse into heaven than the man Jesus Christ, not merely a shadow and copy, but the fullness of God made manifest. Through his flesh is the way, his who makes full atonement for our sins which he calls his own. In his image the fullness of God is seen, his who was forsaken by you. And in his suffering is life, his whose bones and flesh wasted away under your judgment, and his whose indestructible life has made an end of your infinite avenging wrath.

Make your home with us, Father and Son, by your Spirit. Let our union with you be complete by the full death of sin in our lives.
