Lord and God,
You who speaks and is not silent; Speaking Father, Incarnate Word, Breath of Truth; you have seen and you have spoken. You decide every detail of your worship, every aspect of your praise, and distinguish between clean and unclean.
Where you have spoken, men are not free to differ, and where wrong sacrifice is offered, your holiness makes death to follow. It is laughable to think you hungry. The sacrifices you appoint are surely for our sake, not yours, yet they must be offered according to your word. Yet you are not even pleased with these when they come from hearts far from you.
In Jesus Christ, your Son and our Savior, we have life: a sacrifice of praise poured out that we may cease from offering our own and be shaped by his. What more lawful sacrifice could there be than the unblemished lamb of God? Come, God, do not keep silent. Let your word, Jesus Christ, speak: as a sacrificial intercession for us and as a guiding word to us. Lead us into everlasting life and everlasting praise.
