Epiphany 32

Lord and God,

You choose and reveal your mediator. You appoint your priest, and still we rebel and grumble. Why him? Who does he think he is? As you brought life from dead wood with Aaron’s staff, so you worked signs and miracles through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to prove you had chosen him to represent us to you. Still we grumbled. Still we rebelled.

Let he who is transfigured, the fullness of the law and prophets, your well being pleasing Son, he to whom those oppressed by demons come seeking and finding mercy, he who set his face to Jerusalem intent bringing before you your portion of sacrifice for all those looking in faith to his mediation, let him represent us now. In him God is gracious to us. In him your face shines upon us. Let us fear him.
