Lord and God,
Who cares for your world? Man whom you appointed caretaker under your sovereign reign is sick with sin and death. Zelophehad left his daughters for his sin without inheritance and hope, but you made provision. Moses the intermediary died in the wilderness, but you appointed Joshua his successor. Even the prayers of great King David were ended, and his tomb remained with your people until the days of the Greater King.
Right are you, our Lord, when those who know neither your word nor power question your promise of everlasting life and you flatly tell them they are wrong. You who make provision through sacrifice and death in the face of death, you who became a curse for us, you who are—not were—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, you are our everlasting husband. Let the bride not fear, for the bridegroom, though he die, yet shall he live and live never to die again. His life he offers us, an unending life in the presence of the lover of our souls. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things! Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
