Lord and God,
You are the God who has reserved our inheritance. You set its boundaries and bring your people worthy into it. Our wilderness wanderings make us drowsy, and we shut our eyes to what you bring toward us over the horizon.
Give us wisdom to prepare for lifelong faithfulness, yet give us watchfulness for your sudden appearing. Help us to busy ourselves now with investment in your kingdom. For you are not, perhaps, the hard man the wicked and slothful servant suspected, but where we have not sown, you are gracious to supply.
At the right time, you will judge with equity. Help us to see you in the least of your brothers. For you will say to the boastful, do not boast. Work in us, Lord Jesus, the Father’s good and faithful servant.
