Lent 17

Lord and God,

You who has revealed salvation for Israel in the sight of nations, who extended the day of Israel’s glory in battle, who put kings under the feet of his people, glorify your Son again.

For he who came in conquest of Spirits rather than flesh and blood, who withstood temptation where Adam failed, he on whom your favor and Spirit rests, has suffered the ire of your own people. He who was killed and shamed and brought low, even as he was hanged on a tree and cast in a cave, Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. Let his conquest take our sin from us. And let us, with him, be exalted to new heights of righteousness. Let the time be past of his rejection among your people. Let us praise him and your salvation in him.
