Easter 4

Lord and God,

As David many times proved his goodwill and faithfulness to your anointed yet fled Israel, as Christ, though he had done so many signs, hid himself from our eyes, so the unbelieving refuse to see your glory in us. They see in us only threats and evil. They prefer the glory of men to the glory of God.

Yet we ourselves are slow in heart to believe you, while the nations come called to you. With our Lord, we put our hope in you. Save us from evil ones. Save us from our unbelief. Without your word, we would have perished already in our afflictions. Whatever else we are—faithless, despairing, sinful—let us be in your care. We are yours; save us.
