Easter 11

Lord and God,

As David, your conquering, covenant king fled for his life but eventually entered into his glorious reign, so we praise you that Jesus Christ was made glorious before us through what he suffered. David traveled across the Jordan to fight our battles; Jesus Christ went beyond the grave. As David was concerned for the household even of his enemies, Jesus Christ faced death even for those who hated him.

Lord, in the dark nights of our souls, let us remember your mercy. Jesus Christ called, and you saved, but not before his trial and work were complete. Hear the cry today of those united to him. raise them who rise with Christ before dawn to seek you. For Christ has long known, and has shown us, that your word of love is founded forever.
