Easter 12

Lord and God,

Plead our cause and redeem us, O God. Life came through Adam but with it the curse. The law came through Moses but with it a curse. The kingdom came through David but with it the curse. only by you, Lord Jesus Christ, comes life and law and kingdom, with the end of the curse.

In you, the wrath due David’s sin is brought to an end. In you, he whose sine brought the curse of the sword upon all Israel can say that he is righteous. In you can we, in all our weakness and evil, find our sin put to death and a new life of righteousness. Christ is raised; his kingdom, his righteousness and his life are never again subject to curse and death. Redeem us, O God in his redemption. Give us life according to your steadfast love for him.
