Easter 17

Lord and God,

Peace be within you, city of God. Peace to the house of the Lord. Yet sin has again and again brought death to Israel. We have sown evil, and for this we reaped destruction, as in the find of harvest when the sons of Saul were killed. Bloodguilt made us your enemies, not your holy nation.

But you, Lord Jesus Christ, reap a new harvest in your name. You have sown yourself and your blood speaks a better word for us. The builders rejected you, the Cornerstone. And every enemy has been crushed before him. Let us receive him, and not seek another foundation. You who have made the enemies of God become his house, for your sake let us seek peace. And in your name may all your wayward family be gathered. You show steadfast love to your anointed, to David’s offspring forever.
