Easter 25

Lord and God,

If you should mark iniquities who could stand? Truly, we cannot hide from your sight. Those who disguise their appearances before you only add foolishness to their sin. Those who feign righteousness are marked in their iniquities, but those who confess and forsake them you count as those who have kept your commandments and followed you with all their heart, doing only that which was right in your eyes.

Yet those who receive or offer the praise due only to you and pretend to be above you, you strike and bring down. Lord, give us humility to expect your deliverance by the mercies of Christ. Give us wisdom to not think ourselves above you. Give us faith to seek your blessing by the true king, the Son of David. Let our soul wait for him, more than sentries and watchmen who see you not. Redeem us from our iniquities.
