Pentecost 3

Lord and God,

As the anger of man does not produce your righteousness, so we look to the final outpouring of your wrath to reconcile all things. David knew and trusted you, rather than in men, for mercy. Your two appointed witnesses prophesied and were struck dead, yet they looked, like Hezekiah, to he who brings life and lengthens days.

In the darkest days, help us to see the light of Christ, he who was, yet who is and will be forever. The nations may rage, and we may be as sheep to the slaughter, yet so went our Jesus before his glory. Let come your justice; destroy the destroyers of the earth, and let those you call turn like penitent David to you. The LORD will save us, and we will play my music on stringed instruments all the days of our lives, at the house of the LORD.
