OT 9

Lord and God,

How much do we love flattery and falsehood? How often do we prefer comforting lies to your truth. We live in defiance of it, like the threatening and disguised Ahab. We shout. We villify. We deny. We justify. We point to our external obediences; we deflect reflection of our hearts before you. In the end, it is you we refuse to serve.

Teach us to inherit through Christ the praise of the praiseworthy. You who are well pleased with your only son, bring many sons to glory in him. You who tests the righteous, who guides blind arrows, who pierced your own heart for our sake, who lets the upright behold his face, deliver us, and let our praise be not from man but from God.
