OT 21

Lord and God,

You are the God of heaven; no temple made by human hands will contain you. Yet you sanctioned a house to contain us as we searched you out. You restored a holy habitation for your people’s prayers, directed toward you in heaven.

Let us be careful not to tear down the human home you have made for yourself. Each of us lives and dies to you, and you will uphold us in your judgment seat. Lead us by green grass and still waters, Great Shepherd of the Sheep, for you know our human limitations. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us, if we look not to compare and tear down but to you who builds up. We will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
