OT 24

Lord and God,

Let the one who boasts boast in you. Let us with Nehemiah confess first our prayer to you, then our position as cupbearer or otherwise to what kings may be over us. Let us confess first we asked you before asking worldly powers.

For in Christ, we have the power and wisdom of God. Let no one say your dwelling place was established by earthly power or wisdom. It was foolishness, not cunning words, prayer not bribes or tribute that rebuilt the walls. It was your promise to gather to yourself a penitent people that was fulfilled. And we look for it again: turn the hearts of your wayward people back to yourself, for we love the habitation of your house. Turn us, that you may restore us. We look to you alone.
