OT 42

Lord and God,

Job despaired of life, saying, “man who is born of woman is few of days and full of trouble.” The psalmist despaired for life, saying, “for your sake we are killed all the day long.” Both professed their innocence and yet their smallness, their blamelessness and yet their need.

So we to proclaim to you our sufficiency, not as of ourselves yet in ourselves through Christ. No one is enough for you—how could they be? Yet in Christ we see your glory with unveiled face, the salvation greeted from afar by so many saints of old. Take off our blindfold today. Help us to see what can only be seen by faith in Christ, and hope for the salvation yet to come.
