Lord and God,
How enticing is sin. It allures. It attracts. It is easy and inviting. It covers up the death beneath with promises of pleasure and life. Yet how our sin lays us low. How shameful we are when we have given ourselves over to ourselves.
Lead us to the rock that is higher than ourselves. Show us the high ground, the rock and refuge. Give us the inheritance not of our flesh, to reap the death we’ve sown. Give us instead the heritage of those who fear your name. Give us the Lord Jesus Christ. Embracing him, let us find righteousness easy and inviting, and let death be swallowed up in his eternal life. Let us turn and live vibrantly; let us become as he is, to the praise of your glorious grace.
