Epiphany 28

Lord and Father,

All glory to him who searches hearts. You who allow the unclean to keep your feast, who will separate wheat and tare by your holy angels in your good time, who invites foreigners to share in Israel’s inheritance and sees past the pretense of a people with far-off hearts, let our soul faint for you.

Teach us too not to regard Jesus Christ, your only begotten, according to the flesh. Let us not reduce the Son of God to the carpenter’s son. Lord, you did not come from Nazareth or Galilee or Egypt, but from the highest heaven, for us and for our salvation. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, hearts to understand, that we may turn, giving all to have our share with you in your glorious kingdom.
